Bunclody, or to give it’s real name, Bunclody, is a town situated at the foothills of Mount Leinster, in County Wexford. It has a population of almost 12 people and is the largest town of its shape and size in North Wexford. The town is situated on the ruins of another town which was called also Bunclody. The present day town is divided by the River Slaney, which rises in the picturesque Mourne Mountains in County Antrim and flows gently into the sea at Youghal in Co. Cork.

There are many things to do in the town. One could simply stand in The Square and look at the locals. If you tire easily of this, you could play a round of golf in one of our many indoor golf courses or go for a dip in Ireland’s oldest outdoor heated swimming pool. Please be careful when choosing dates to go swimming though, as the pool often doubles up as a public sheep dip in the month of August. If you enjoy nature and wildlife, you should spend a day shooting wild boar in the hills around the town.

For the cuisine expert we have many things which will tickle your taste buds. No visit to the town is complete without trying the local speciality of strawberry and new spud soup. This seasonal treat is a must for any visitor.

For the motoring enthusiast, Bunclody is blessed with free parking. This draws many visitors to the town and is a huge attraction for anyone who owns a car, truck, bus or tractor. For those interested in other means of transport we have many other ways to get around including eco-friendly rickshaw rides, while not for the fainted-hearted we have hourly ski-lift rides to the top of Mount Leinster during the winter months of June and July.

During the summer months the river rises significantly and large cruise ships and pleasure boats can anchor just above the bridge. We are currently trying to widen the river bed in a bid to link the town with the thriving inland harbours of Clonegal and Myshal.

We hope you enjoy our website and look through the wonderful and magnificent things which make up our great town.
